What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxGlendoraHighSchool, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxGlendoraHighSchool event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Meet Our Organizers
Silvia Huang, head organizer
Silvia is currently a junior at Glendora High School. Inspired by the 19th century Enlightenment salons, Silvia decided to host a TEDx so that her school and community could experience an event where ideas can flow freely. TED talks were always an integral part of her life...the opportunity to actually host an event was really a dream come true. |
Patrick Hart, co-organizer
"I was born and raised in Alhambra, California, graduated undergrad at UC San Diego, grad school at Boston College, and returned to Southern California to teach history and coach high school baseball. I am currently teaching at Glendora High School, which I've been proud to call "home away from home" for the past 18 years. My greatest attribute is who I do life with - my wife Mindi (also a GHS teacher) and my three beautiful daughters, Olivia, Tessa, and Charlotte. I am passionate about teaching, learning, and am incredibly grateful to do both on a daily basis." |
